Level goal

The credentials for the next level can be retrieved by submitting the password of the current level to **a port on localhost in the range 31000 to 32000**. First find out which of these ports have a server listening on them. Then find out which of those speak SSL and which don’t. There is only 1 server that will give the next credentials, the others will simply send back to you whatever you send to it.

Yey. Nmap. My friend from a old life hobby.

bandit16@bandit:~$ nmap localhost -p31000-32000

Starting Nmap 7.40 ( https://nmap.org ) at 2021-04-07 21:22 CEST

Well, that didn’t help, lets add the -sV switch (all versions)

bandit16@bandit:~$ nmap localhost -p31000-32000 -sV

I’m going to guess it’s port 31790, lets see.

 openssl s_client --connect localhost:31790

Lets make a file in a tmp directory and save this.. Am going to use Nano because VI scares me. Copied the key and saved it.

bandit16@bandit:/tmp/zd16$ mkdir /tmp/zd16
bandit16@bandit:/tmp/zd16$ ls
pk.private

Lets try to connect!

bandit16@bandit:/tmp/zd16$ ssh bandit17@localhost -i /tmp/zd16/pk.private
